The Client

Burlington Animal Services (BAS) is a public animal shelter and adoption center serving Alamance County and surrounding areas in North Carolina. Additionally, this organization also carries out the enforcement of laws pertaining to animal issues in the City of Burlington, operates a feral cat trap and release program and oversees the Spay & Neuter Clinic of Alamance County.

The Task

In addition to working as a marketing intern for Burlington Animal Services (BAS) during the spring of 2022, I spent multiple days each week volunteering at the shelter itself. I quickly came to notice that many dogs on the shelter’s website did not have good quality pictures or biographies on their profiles. To show off the dogs’ personalities and portray them in an appealing way online, I began to collect pictures to post on the BAS website and social media.

What I Did

To help the dogs gain more attention and get adopted out more quickly, I spent time taking pictures of them each day I volunteered. During my time with each dog, I took note of their personalities, demeanors, quirks, body language, etc. and also created biographies to compliment their profile pictures and social media posts.
