Catering to Cats and Dogs
The Client
Catering to Cats & Dogs (C2CAD) was established in 2008 as a non-profit animal rescue center serving Lake Norman and the surrounding areas in North Carolina. This entirely volunteer-run organization places its primary focus on pulling animals at risk of euthanasia from local animal control facilities, and then providing them with proper medical attention and foster care before placing them into safe, permanent homes.
The Task
As it stood, the website for C2CAD was functional, however it failed to convey a feeling of satisfaction or excitement for its audience. With no sensible organization to its block-shaped and dimensionless components, paired with its lack of an attention-grabbing color palette, the website “worked,” however it did not encapsulate the viewers’ interest. To remedy this, I reconstructed and re-designed this website to make it more inviting and user-friendly for its viewers.

What I Did
To create a more enjoyable viewing experience, I created a fresh, interactive, multi-faceted and aesthetically pleasing website for C2CAD. I introduced a more balanced and unique color palette that invokes a calm and playful feeling, while also reconstructing the layout of each of the long scroll pages and organizing them in a way that flows cleanly. To generate more engagement and traffic to secondary pages, I added graphic components and used visual hierarchy in order to emphasize important buttons and information on the website – such as adoptions, donations, volunteering and special events.
